The Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) recently announced its 2026 spring award winners, and several Winona Health caregivers were among those honored for excellence in leadership, communications, organizational culture and community health. The awards recognize individuals and teams across Minnesota for their contributions to patient care, workforce development, community engagement and innovation.
Delivering the Message Award Winona Health President and CEO Rachelle Schultz, EdD, received the 2026 Delivering the Message Award, which recognizes leaders who help communities better understand the challenges and opportunities facing hospitals and health care organizations.
Schultz was honored for her efforts to elevate the needs of patients, caregivers and communities across Minnesota through advocacy, leadership and public engagement.
Commitment to Organizational Culture Award The Winona Health Facilities Team, led by Justin Johnson, was recognized with a Commitment to Organizational Culture Award. This award recognizes teams that prioritize culture, infrastructure, and commitment to workforce development.
The Facilities Team was recognized for its operational excellence through data-driven decision-making, LEAN methodologies and a strong culture of frontline problem-solving. Trusted as mission-driven experts, the team consistently balances quality, safety and cost efficiency while ensuring its work positively impacts patients, caregivers and the broader community.
Excellence in Community Health The Winona Community HUB Navigators received recognition for Excellence in Community Health.
The Community HUB serves as a vital bridge between patients and the health care, insurance and social service systems, empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and connect with the resources they need at no cost. Through direct patient support and strong community partnerships, the HUB has expanded its reach, reduced barriers to care and created a more seamless experience for patients throughout Winona County.
Excellence in Communications Former Winona Health Digital Storyteller Madelin Faust, who was a member of the Winona Health Marketing team at the time of nomination, received an Excellence in Communications Award from the Minnesota Hospital Association.
The award recognizes communicators who help connect, educate and engage patients and communities through effective storytelling and communication. During her time at Winona Health, Faust played a role in sharing the stories of patients, caregivers and the organization through visual and digital content. Her work helped strengthen connections within the community and highlight the people behind the care.
“We are proud of the caregivers recognized by the Minnesota Hospital Association,” said Schultz. “These awards reflect the dedication, innovation and commitment our caregivers bring to their work every day as they serve our patients and communities.”
The awards were presented during the Minnesota Hospital Association’s 2026 Spring Innovation Forum.
