Help families in need
Established in 1986 by Benjamin A. Miller, a former Winona-area businessman, in honor of his wife, Adith, the Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund has helped ease the burden of unexpected medical expenses and the added stress that accompanies them. Thanks to the generosity of all who are inspired to give, the Patient Care Fund continues to be a source of relief for grateful individuals and families.
Since the fund’s inception, it has helped more than 8,171 individuals pay more than $15.75 million in Winona Health medical costs. In fiscal year 2023, the Ben & Adith Miller Patient Care Fund helped 364 people with $564,791 for medical care.

Letter from a grateful recipient
I am a 65 year old female, on Medicare and Social Security. I am self-employed and low-income. I was denied medical assistance from the state of Minnesota last year, because my annual income was $50.00 over the limit. Last year, I was assigned a new GP by Winona Health. Upon consultation, she recommended a colonoscopy for me. Before scheduling, I consulted with the fine folks at the Winona Health business office. (Hi Susan!) We found out, that, after the Medicare share was paid, the procedure would cost me over three thousand dollars. Well, that was three thousand dollars I did not have. I said that I would not be able to schedule the procedure, at that point. It was then that Susan told me about the Ben & Adith Miller Patient Fund. I applied to the Fund for help. I qualified for assistance, so I scheduled the colonoscopy. It turns out that they removed four pre-cancerous polyps. Wow. What would have happened had I not been able to have the procedure? In my view, the Miller Fund saved my life, for which I am very thankful. Thank you to the Millers and to all you fellow contributors for your generosity. You are making a difference in this world.
