When an elderly lady returned a call from Winona Health, she didn’t remember the name of the department or the caller who left the message. She sounded confused and maybe a bit scared. It took a little time and several calls and connections for me to track down the right person for her. I felt a sense of relief when I was able to put her in touch with the person she needed. I was so surprised when, later, she called me back just to say “Thank You” for taking the time to help her. How thoughtful of her! Every day, when I come to work, it’s my pleasure to help those on the other end of the phone—I never consider it a bother. Whether it’s a coworker requesting assistance or a call from someone in our community, I want every caller to know that I am here…to help. — Marie Grossell (Switchboard)
