Margaret, a Lake Winona Manor resident, loves horses. She had many as a child, her favorite being one she named Black Beauty. She even did barrel racing. When therapeutic recreation staff member Jennifer heard how much horses meant to Margaret, she asked friends who had horses if anyone would be willing to bring one to Lake Winona Manor. Lisa Rakstad, a former certified nursing assistant at Lake Winona Manor who now works in Winona Health’s Podiatry department, responded immediately. She braided her horse Meeka’s mane, added red bows and brought her to Lake Winona Manor. Seeing Meeka brought back so many memories for Margaret. She enjoyed reminiscing about her horses and her barrel racing days with Lisa, who has also barrel raced. It was a joy to see Margaret smiling ear to ear!
